Our Clay Taster sessions are a great introduction to hand building with clay and perfect if you’re a complete beginner –  and if you have some more experience there’s so much to build on.

These also make a great gift! Just get in touch to when you book to let us know you’re buying for a friend.

WHAT TO EXPECT

 We like to keep classes to a minimum, up to 10 people per class, to ensure a relaxing and rewarding experience for all.

In this two hour workshop you will be shown three different hand-building techniques pinching, coiling and press moulding.

You are welcome to play and experiment as much as you like within these two hours. Then we ask you to choose your favourite two pieces for us to process for you. We glaze your pieces in our Snow White dipping glaze and fire everything for you.

COLLECTION

Classwork is usually ready in 3-5 weeks. We will notify you by email and you can pop by the studio to collect your pieces.

Unfortunately once we have notified you, we can not keep items for longer than two weeks due to limited storage.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

All workshop/class/course bookings are non-refundable, but we are very happy to rebook you onto a new date if you can no longer make it! If you need to change your booking, we just ask for more than one week’s notice to do so. If it’s less than one weeks’ notice, and you can’t make it, it’s possible to transfer to a friend who’d love it.

Our gift cards can be used as full or part payment for any of our products or workshops. 

Gift cards are available in £35, £50, £85, 100, £150 and £300 and can be used online on either our products or our workshops!

Gift cards are nonrefundable and must be used within one year of the purchase date.

KANA Practice Sessions are self-guided sessions. This means you have already done a KANA (or similar hand-building) workshop and will be comfortable working alone, without the help of a teacher.

They are perfect for past students or those with previous hand-building experience to come and improve their skills and work on a self-guided project.

They are untutored sessions, so it’s like hiring your own studio space for two hours, for you to work independently.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This is an untutored session but there will be someone to show you around the studio and help you get set up.

If you are press moulding you are welcome to bring your own moulds.

It includes one medium sized piece to be glazed in a white glaze and fired by us.

If, however you would like to come back for another session to glaze the piece yourself and choose from our wide selection of glazes, you are more than welcome to book onto one of our glazing sessions which take place on the last Saturday of every month, but we can chat through this in more detail on the day.

If you would like to continue working on a piece in another session it is your responsibility to spray and wrap your piece, so it can be worked on at a later date, no longer than 3 weeks.

If you would like to fire more than one medium sized piece there will be an additional charge to cover our costs.

For some good studio practice there will be 10 minutes to clean up at the end of the session

When: Every 2nd and 4th Saturday afternoon of the month, 2–4pm
Where: KANA Studio, 5A Gransden Ave, E8 3QA

On every second and last Saturday afternoon of the month (so twice a month!), we run Glazing Workshops for past students to return to learn how to glaze their own work.

These are only suitable if you have already done a workshop with us and have made pieces here in one of our classes.

Please only book onto this session if you have pieces from one of our One-Off Evening Classes or Saturday Tasters/Practice Sessions to glaze. It’s unfortunately not possible to glaze pieces you’ve made in other studios or at home.

WHAT TO EXPECT
