Kana takeover at Bonds. King's Cross

When Earl of East London and Kana moved to the Gransden Avenue studio, Paul and Niko, the founders of EoEL, opened the beautiful Bonds. Hackney lifestyle store, coffee shop and event space. Since then, we have both been dreaming about taking on another space to evolve our beloved project! And you’ll never guess what, the guys went and did it! They have opened the second Bonds. store in Kings Cross and exceeded everyone’s expectations with their amazing curation skills! It’s absolutely incredible to look back at how far we have come since then, I can hardly believe it.

Their lush new lifestyle store in Coal Drops Yard combines delicious coffee, locally designed goods and an Earl of East London pouring room (see their beautiful candles here!) whilst offering local makers a weekly takeover space. I am super proud and very honoured to be one of the designers doing a one of these pop-ups; I have curated a beautiful selection of pieces that explore different shades of blue. Judith Lasry is a French ceramicist working in Paris.  She creates her ceramics with clay from Burgundy in a wild gesture, naive and primitive. She favours hand building, in particular all kinds of pinch pots. She also has an obsession with food and therefore has developed a range of ceramics for the table as well as random sets of vessels and unique pieces.

Functional or dysfunctional, she loves to explore all the perfects in imperfections.
She finds pleasure to use her hands to dig and tear and throw the clay, without mould or wheel.

This is a new approach in experimenting the world of ceramics and produces unique and wonderful pieces. We look now at ancient pottery and in particular those of primitive people, in which the quality of the material tells us the shape and pattern to adopt, with instinct. Today, we see this art trying to move forward, cutting from a past of traditional figurative ceramics.

Judith works with magnificent Chef Taku Sekine of Dersou, Paris and her work has been featured in New York Times and L’Officiel Paris

This is time for you and for doing something good for yourself. Your bowl will be your grounding rock every morning when you take your time to have a quite moment for yourself before the rush of the day takes over.

Alex on 26Grains:

"At 26 Grains we believe porridge is something that both is social and individual. Social in the way that it can feed many and easily and individual in the ritual that can surround it as well as coming to understand it's seasonal pairings. It's is about finding the time to make it in the morning, conscious rather than overlooked. It's is steeped in tradition, cooked all over the world in different forms and we want to celebrate this attention to detail, vast flavour combinations and making time for yourself by coming together with Kana to create the breakfast set/bowl that pairs with your porridge."

Session 1 MAKING

We will look into the perfect porridge serving vessels, and make from clay of your choice a bowl that will be your perfect size and shape.

Session 2 GLAZING

Talking about the importance of spices and combinations in creative, nourishing and healing recipes and how to choose the perfect colour for your bowl.

We will glaze your bowls

Session 3 COOKING

We will provide cooking hobs, and many exciting, traditional and challenging experimental ingredients to cook some very delicious porridges.

Everyone will get a recipe card to take home and keep as inspiration for their (new) morning rituals.

I’m still here explores the relationship between past, present and a possible future, portraying isolation, abandonment of a place that was once one of the most popular holiday resorts in Southern California, to a man made monument created by only one person made out of trash and leftover paint as a tribute to God and his gift to the world with its simple yet powerful message: "God Is Love.” - Marcela Ferri
